What Do We Have in Common? by Janet Zweig, 2021

Commissioned by the Friends of the Public Garden, for their 50th anniversary and curated by Now + There, this immersive, experiential artwork sought to engage Boston Common visitors in reflections about our shared responsibilities to each other and the spaces we share. Running Sept 22 - Oct 24, 2021, the project asked provocative questions asked like “Who owns the park” and “Who owns your data”. The project was stewarded by 12 gregarious Guides who removed different illuminated question markers daily placing them around the large oversized cabinet that centered the work. They engaged visitors, talked through answers and shared books from the cabinet’s Giving Library.

The questions and interactions generated from this project will continue to resonate with us long after its end.
