Wall Gazing

When we asked Rob Gibbs to put a Problak original on the wall at 808 Tremont Street, we knew he was a phenomenally powerful artist who could manipulate spray paint in ways that defy logic. But we didn’t know that he’d grown up around the corner, walking by and admiring this wall on his way to school, the corner store, and the train. Now, he’s put his stamp on this space he considers sacred with Breathe Life 3 . This homecoming puts all of Rob’s skill and learning on public display and shows off how much he’s grown (in so many ways) since his days walking around the corner at Tremont and Camden.

Below is a photo essay, featuring the work of photographer Gabriel Ortiz, who has worked closely with Rob to document many of his biggest projects. Through his lens, it’s plain to see Rob’s deep affection for and dedication to his work, his practice, his city, and this wall.

Round the way.
