Share your face, and your story, with the world! JR's Inside Out Photobooth truck comes to Boston.
Demonstrating the power of art to engage community in dialogue the Inside Out Photobooth truck, an international participatory art project, will visit the Dudley Branch of the Boston Public Library on Wednesday, October 7, 11am-6pm.
The Photobooth (the brainchild of JR, the artist responsible for the 200 Clarendon Boston mural) is a mobile portrait studio that takes individual portraits and immediately prints them out, larger-than-life at 3’ x 5’. These prints will be pasted on grounds of the library and together will make a collective portrait that symbolizes “The Faces of Dudley” and the strength of a community in transition.
In addition to the Photobooth portraits, Now and There and The Up Truck will collect stories of resilience and courage from participants to create a follow up book and text-based project for the library.
To date 234,382 people in 124 countries have stepped inside the INSIDE OUT Photobooth to share their untold stories and express their personal identity in a collective work of public art. This simple yet visually compelling project allows us to tell our stories – everything from social injustices to environmental concerns to messages of hope – and share to them on a global platform from as far away as Ecuador, Nepal, Palestine, and Vietnam.
