Take joy to the streets of Boston!
Rolling application. (Early submissions encouraged.) Deadline August 28.
Now + There seeks exuberant, publicly-minded performers and groups to be featured participants in the Augment parade -- Boston’s first-ever parade of joy, presented in conjunction with a new public artwork, Augment, by Nick Cave. We are specifically seeking diverse dancers, movement performers, musicians and marching bands, and arts organizations interested in making art accessible to all to join us. Think steel drum band, youth dancers, drag queens, and wheelchair performers! Performers representative of Boston’s multiplicity of cultural experiences are encouraged to apply.
The parade will be a three-mile procession from the Boston Center for the Arts to Upham’s Corner and will serve to invite the public into an art-filled day of togetherness and JOY++. The parade will also bring Nick Cave’s inflatable sculpture from the South End to its final destination for installation in Upham’s Corner culminating in a celebratory street festival with partners DS4Si and Company One (inPublic Festival) and Upham’s Corner Health Center (Arts and Health Street Festival).
All selected performers will receive a stipend of between $50 and $500 for their participation. Non-performers and the general public are welcome and encouraged to join the parade too but this call is strictly for paid performers.
