Recent Project: Public Trust

PUBLIC TRUST, (Aug 27–Sept 17, 2016) a free interactive artwork by Brooklyn artist Paul Ramirez Jonas in three Greater Boston locations — Dudley Square, Kendall Square, and Copley Square — asked the public to give a promise they could keep and to create a contract, an artwork, they could take home. Every one of the 956 promises shared was also simultaneously published on a giant marquee with other promises made that day by politicians, economic forecasters and other public figures.

For this ground-breaking project, Ramirez Jonas created a simple framework: an engagement table, a marquee, and a script for local artist to follow. Once situated in each site, the artwork became a tool for the performers and the participants to modify and use for their own benefit. Visit the project page for more information, watch the video, or order the book.
